Product Development Specialist

Role Summary:
 The successful candidate will join a team responsible for the development of new products.
 Based in the Product Development team the position holder will report to the Product Development Group Manager.
 The successful candidate will drive the development, innovation, and renovation of products from concept through all stages of development in alignment with the objectives.
 They will also provide strong scientific and technical knowledge while working within a multi-functional team setting.
 They will be involved in optimisation of ways of working (processes & practices) to improve quality, efficiency and accuracy of ingredient and recipe data.

A Day in the Life of a Product Development Specialist:
 Drive product development activities (e.g., project planning, timeline preparation, ensuring readiness for project gate approvals) in the dedicated innovation/renovation category together with project stakeholders.
 Build knowledge on current product formats, raw materials, manufacturing processes, packaging, test methods and applicable regulations for nutritional products (e.g., infant formula, growing up milks).
 Prepare and approve recipes, specifications and finished product data and supporting technical documentation.
 Ensure technical acceptance process is followed for all products to ensure compliance with finished product specifications and the legislation of the selling market.
 Provide technical assistance, oversight on trial manufacture, assistance in industrialization and follow-up after product launch.
 Provide accurate and on-time technical support to operations with effective and sustainable solutions.
 Proactively propose new ideas/projects/methods and explore patentable opportunities.
 Contribute to / build systems for efficient and effective processes and ways of working.

Education Requirements:  University Qualification, in a scientific field.

What will make you successful:
 University degree in Food Science/Food Technology or related scientific field.
 Work experience in R&D or other technical position.
 Experience working with technical regulations.
 Rigorous attention to detail and result-focused.
 Experience in data analytics, statistical knowledge and the ability to analyse and summarise complex data & make meaningful recommendations.
 Ability to navigate ambiguity and help business make risk-based decisions.
 Proficiency in computer-based applications and propensity to learn new software systems and processes.
 Competence in food science-based technical solutions.
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Contract Duration:  Temporary – Maternity Leave Cover
