Duties and Responsibilities:

The General Manager will demonstrate accountability for Operational Excellence while working with various departments across the company. This position will develop and execute innovative strategies to achieve world-class quality, safety and financial performance while managing complex issues within functional areas of expertise. The successful candidate will be involved in long-term planning and contribute to the overall business strategy and leadership of the Company.

Role Objectives:

  • Develop strategic plans for optimized productivity.
  • Lead the establishment and attainment of plant goals in quality, cost, schedule, compliance and safety.
  • Review and improve organizational effectiveness by developing processes, overseeing employees, establishing a highly motivated work environment, and creating innovative approaches for improvement.
  • Direct and monitor department managers to accomplish goals of the Operations plan with consistent and established safety procedures.
  • Uphold standards of excellence and soaring quality.
  • Seek out opportunities for expansion and growth by developing new business relationships.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, assigning weekly performance goals and assuring their completion, while accomplishing your own goals.
  • Recruit, onboard, and train high-performing employees to achieve sales, profitability, market share, and business plan objectives.
  • Maintain project timelines to ensure tasks are accomplished on time.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain budgetary and resource allocation plans.
  • Delegate responsibilities to the best employees to perform them while enforcing all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, training programs, and cultural values.
  • Resolve internal staff conflicts efficiently and to the mutual benefit of those involved.
  • Develop scopes of work in close partnership with technical leads.
  • Solid understanding of GMP, Regulatory, legal, quality requirements, and import/export policies.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all business & manufacturing matters of the site of responsibilities including production, testing and release of mission critical GMP solutions for Global customers.
  • Resolve operational, manufacturing and facility issues to ensure minimal costs and prevention of operational delays.
  • Responsible for advancing strategic growth objectives.  Confer with department heads on all critical decisions, identification of issues and problem resolution to ensure concurrence and adverse operational impact.
  • Establish short and long-term manufacturing & site manufacturing operations goals, objectives and strategies ensuring that appropriate policies and procedures are in place to accurately measure, monitor and report actual versus planned results.  Identify,
    design, implement, and measure programs to improve operational performance.
  • Responsible for preparation, review, and approval of site manufacturing accounting analysis for budgetary planning and implementation, production efficiency, financial reporting and submittal for capital expenditures.  Support corporate/local business
    development activities and develop relationships with key local counterparts.
  • Participate in formulating and administering functional policies and practices.  Direct and coordinate all activities to develop and implement long-range goals and objectives to meet business and profitability growth objectives.  Ensure departmental goals and
    objectives are properly aligned to support site and global operations strategy.
  • Ensure synergy between the long-range financial plans (LRP) and Global Manufacturing operating strategy to meet strategic direction and overall corporate objectives.  Manage and influence operational advancements and synergies with multi cross-functional
    groups to include site Materials, Global Engineering and Facilities, Finance, and Quality.
  • Responsible for Site Operations Manufacturing talent management and support succession planning to ensure pipeline of talent to grow the business.

Skills and Qualifications:


  • BS/MS Degree in Biochemical or Chemical Engineering or a related scientific discipline, PhD preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Life Science Operations.
  • 6+ years of senior management experience.
  • Demonstrated quantitative skills including experience in business process development, continuous improvement, operational excellence, and performance management.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in bulk chemical processing / blending.
  • Experience managing excipient manufacturing facility.
